Maximilian Dorner was born in Munich in 1973, where he still lives. He was granted a scholarship by the German National Academic Foundation to study dramatics at the Bavarian Theatre Academy. Since 2000 he has worked as a writer, director and lecturer. Previously, he made films, produced plays and worked as a theater critic and playwright. In 2009, he presented his first opera production at the Pasinger Fabrik in Munich. Meanwhile, he has published six books, including a novel, for which he was awarded the Bayerischen Kunstförderpreis (Bavarian state award for the advancement of arts). In three of his books, he has dealt with the issue of disability. Consolation, healing and shame are other motives for his autobiographical publications.
