Ein zweiter Blick auf Strafgefangene

MAREN JOPEN

Maren Jopen is an entrepreneur in one of the darkest corners of Germany: in prison. The business economist worked for several years as an executive at a large telecommunications company. Despite many resistors in her environment, she ended her career abruptly and announced to build the program called Leonhard | entrepreneurship for prisoners together with her father. In a program, comparable to MBA degrees, the prisoners learn how to build a small business or exercise as entrepreneurial-minded employees a salaried activity. In a few years, the program has grown into a serious component in the social reintegration of prisoners and can point to a promising dropout statistics and employment rate. Maren Jopen reports about her unusual way, she immerses her audience in strange worlds and tells of the profound experience, how an initial idea and a visit to a Texas maximum security prison became a movement with a network of over 1,000 entrepreneurs, executives and consultants. Many newspapers and TV stations report about the program and the initiative has been awarded several times.
